As I am a facing a huge challenge this morning, I got up (as always) and went right the Word of God. This verse struck me hard so I thought I would share what God is speaking to me about because you, too, might be facing a huge challenge. I’m pretty sure the apostle Paul wrote this letter to the Philippians in the midst of his daily challenges of being in prison.

The Greek word for “press on” means to “pursue, chase, press forward.” As I pondered this, I thought… I need to PRESS ON and PRESS IN. Let’s examine both.

PRESS ON… You probably watched the movie Fireproof at some time. I love the theme song of that movie, While I’m Waiting: “While I’m waiting, I will serve You. While I’m waiting, I will worship. While I’m waiting, I will not faint. I’ll be running the race while I wait. I’m waiting, I’m waiting on You Lord. And I am peaceful. I’m waiting on you Lord though its not easy. No, but faithfully I will wait.” Based on our key verse, these lyrics are biblically accurate.

So whatever you are facing today, don’t get stuck there. Don’t get stuck in your confusion, frustration, unbelief, and discouragement. Keep worshiping, keep serving the Lord, keep working for the Kingdom. KEEP PRESSING ON.

PRESS IN… Seek God with your whole heart. You may be feeling weak, tired, and burdened down. But I know that you do have the energy to press in. Press into God’s Word more than yesterday. Press into God’s presence more than you’ve done in a long time. Press into the voice of God, seeking to hear Him speak. KEEP PRESSING IN.

I know your circumstances may be very difficult, but if we press on and press in, we will fare so much better. God will surely meet us where we are at. Let these words encourage you today.
