When I was in New Mexico recently, I came across a terrible scene. I heard a squeal, and I looked down just feet from me to see a snake squeezing the life out of a small animal. He had found his lunch and that poor animal didn't have a chance. Snakes are predators. But here's the thing... you and I have a great predator after us as well. Peter writes in 1 Peter 5:8: "Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour." And let me tell you... Satan is not after the non-believer or the nominal Christian. He's only after those who pose a threat to his evil purposes. He's after the devoted Christian... the one who stands up for God, the one who is not willing to compromise, the one who is in a relationship with Jesus, the one who has surrendered to God.
But unlike that little animal in the clutches of the snake, you and I can overcome our enemy and these words in Revelation tell us exactly how. There are two ways specifically: 1) by the blood of Jesus (his blood is VERY powerful); and 2) by the word of our testimony. The moment you and I bowed at the cross, His blood was poured out into us. So, that's already a given. But I'm sure we don't quite understand the power of our testimony. When we speak about what Jesus did for us, how He transformed our life, and we share details of our experience, then the enemy cannot stand up to that.
Each of us has a platform. We have a sphere of influence. So, let me encourage you to use that platform to share your testimony. If you've never written it down, then do so today. It doesn't need to be long - in fact, it should be short. Write down what brought you to Christ, how your life has been transformed - what life was like before Christ and what life has been like since, and the hope and assurance He has given you. And then begin to share it... maybe a short video you can post on social media. Look for opportunities to share your story. By doing this, the enemy will flee. It's not your words that are powerful... it's your testimony.
I'm going to begin to share my story more. Will you join me? Let this encourage you today.
