Have you ever felt like you’ve been kept in the dark? Like maybe everyone else knew but you? Have you ever thought, “Why didn’t I see it? How did I miss it?” Well, God never wants you and I to be left in the dark. Of course, there are certain things we won’t know until we get to heaven, but there is one thing He wants us to be wide awake to. THE WAR! The Bible tells us of two realms… the earthly realm (what we see now) and the spiritual realm (what we cannot see). And in the spiritual realm, there’s a war going on between Satan (and his demons) and God (and his angels). And you and your loved ones are in the center of the battle.
The Bible gives us glimpses of this war in Daniel 10 and Revelation 12. The Bible also describes it throughout Scripture, but this verse in Ephesians gives us an up close and personal view. Paul’s words tell us a lot about this war, but two things in particular jump out to me… the demonic world is 1) powerful and 2) unseen. Let me remind you that just because you cannot see it doesn’t mean it’s not real.
If the battle was in the earthly realm, we could use earthly weapons… weapons like words, anger, manipulation, power. But the battle that’s being fought for you and your loved ones is in the spiritual realm, so we must fight using spiritual weapons. I know that you know this, but let’s look a little deeper. What are those weapons? It would be God’s Word, prayer, worship, and the Name of Jesus. Here’s the thing we need to remember… the battle is ongoing and the enemy will NOT stop fighting for you and your loved ones. But neither will Jesus. In fact, God will dispense a multitude of angels to fight on your behalf.
But as Christians, we should never give up either. We should never put up those white flags and surrender to the enemy. NO. We can make a difference in this war but we MUST be adept at using spiritual weapons. Every time we pray, we enter that unseen realm. Every word we utter in prayer makes the enemy back down. Every time we use God’s Word, the enemy falls. Every time we lift our hands in worship, the enemy screams. Every time we say the Name of Jesus, the enemy is destroyed. Every word we say in prayer gives us a little more ground. Satan and his cronies CANNOT stand up to spiritual weapons.
Let me remind you, though, that victory will probably not come overnight. It may take a long time. That’s why we need to be willing to stay in the battle for the long haul. Don’t give your loved ones over to the enemy. Keep standing next to the angels and fighting for them. Let this encourage you today.
