Bringing an offering is a part of worship. We often come into the presence of God to get something for ourselves. We come empty-handed, but the Bible tells us that we need to bring something to Him... an offering. Offerings that come from the deep places of our hearts are sweet aromas to Him. As He breathes them in, He is pleased.
Today, these words struck me as I pondered them. I thought... "What can I bring the Lord?" I mean... He has everything He needs, right? And I don't have much to give Him for sure. I think about that little wide-eyed boy standing before Jesus and His disciples with his little lunch. "Lord, what is this for all these people? "How can 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread feed the thousands on this hillside? It isn't much, but I bring it to you to use for Your glory." And then his eyes grew wider as he watched Jesus take that lunch and feed all those people. Imagine that.
The Lord doesn't ask us to bring GREAT offerings, abundant things. He just asks that when we come into His presence, we bring an offering. I bring Him my time today. I have a tendency to waste it. As I bring it today, I'm asking God to help me not waste it and that He will multiply it for His glory. I don't have much to bring, but I bring what I have.
What will you bring to the Lord today? What is something you can lay on the altar and ask God to use for His glory? Let these words encourage you today.
