Before Daniel was thrown into the lion's den, he was maliciously attacked by those who were jealous of him. Before Jesus was crucified on the cross, he was maliciously attacked by envious religious leaders. In each case, the attackers didn't have a case, so they lied to get what they wanted. They wanted them dead and they would do whatever necessary for their plans to be executed.
You and I have an attacker as well. He wants us to fail. He wants to see us condemned. But because of our righteous standing with God, he does not have a case. So, he lies. He takes his case before the Judge and lies, smearing our name through the mud. It's a courtroom with a prosecutor, a defendant, a Defense Attorney, and a Judge. The prosecutor is ruthless, convincing, and wicked in every way. He has one goal... to destroy us. But here's the thing... we have the BEST Defense Attorney. He knows His defendant inside and out and He has NEVER lost a case.
He prays on our behalf... He prays that our weakness will turn to strength. He prays that our fear turns into boldness, He prays that our doubts make way to belief. He prays that our minds will reject the lies, our hearts will remain strong and faithful, and that the culture will not lead us astray. We often do not know what to pray for, but we have an Advocate who knows exactly. He also intercedes for us on behalf of our families... that our children will come home, our grandchildren will be transformed by the gospel, and our marriages can withstand the pressures threatening its survival.
Your Defense Attorney loves you with an everlasting love and He will NOT let your enemy take you down. He always wins and has already won your case... before you ever entered the courtroom. He smashes the lies, dismantles the threats, and exposes the evil schemes coming against us. So, guess what? You and I are going to be okay because Jesus is interceding for us right now.
