As Jesus moves closer to His appointed time – when He would die for the sins of the world – He moves away from the crowds to spend time alone with His chosen ones, the disciples. They had so many questions, doubts, and fears. They surely did not know what the future held, but Jesus knew. He knew that He would be leaving them soon and they would be called upon to launch the church. So they needed to be ready, prepared. And rverything Jesus demonstrated to them would helptThem for sure.
While we live two thousand years later, Jesus’ words and actions in those final hours are just as powerful and impactful as they were then. We need to make sure we are on mission with Jesus and there is not a better way to do that than getting up close and personal with Him as He makes His way to the cross.
